Peter,

I could only find reference to Super B, which has dimensions of 11.69 x
17.32 inches. Still a good deal.

Keith, quick question,,,

Do you HAVE to remove the old scanner software before installing
VUEscan? I have an Agfa T2500, and am not even sure vuescan supports
it. It would be a MAJOR hassle if it didn't work, or if I didn't like
it, as I had to download about 4 different versions of the agfa software
to get the scanner to work, and it was a major headache to get it
running properly. I would never want to go through that again. There's
at least 200 different agfa folders, and they are spread out all over
the place on my hard drive.

Thanks,

jerry

Hi Jerry,

I'm not Keith but I can help perhaps. According to the Vuescan website
it supports Agfa flatbed SCSI scanners which I believe the Agfa T2500
is. But you never know until you try. You should not have to
un-install any of your existing scanner software to run and use
Vuescan, at least this has been the situation with my Epson 1200U
flatbed, Minolta Dual Scan II and Nikon LS-4000, all of which I have
used with Vuescan through the years, but then again none of those were
SCSI either.

Vuescan, while a wonderful software, is not for everyone as it's GUI
is not as user friendly or as intuitive as many vendor's softwares.
But time spent getting familiar is well worth it. Some just want to be
hand-held through the scanning steps, or are too lazy to take a few
minutes to learn the ins and outs of Vuescan's less "tutorial-style"
interface, and perhaps Vendor software is better for them. On the
other hand I find many vendor softwares, while "prettier" to be mostly
crap and I use Vuescan almost exclusively. I suggest you visit the
Vuescan site, download a trial version (identical to a registered
version but the scans have watermarks) and also take 20-30 minutes or
so to read through the online users guide and learn the interface a
bit. It's really not hard at all just needs a walk-through first to
see where everything is and what it all does. It will go a long way
towards your success and minimize frustrations from unfamiliarity.
Vuescan really is a great product, just needs a few minutes in the
beginning to get the lay of the land.

As others have mentioned the site is here: http://www.hamrick.com

Hopes this helped.

Best regards,
 Richard

It all depends. Tried Vuescan to drive an Agfa Horizon Plus on W2000pro and
W98SE and ran into several problems. Fotolook 3.5 worked with that scanner
in both OSses but gave a huge conflict when Vuescan was installed next to
it. Vuescan didn't get further than recognising the scanner once and then
crashed. I'm afraid that Ed Hamrick should rephrase the text: compatible
with all Agfa flatbed scsi scanners. I've asked him for help and if he
couldn't to rephrase that part of his webpage but I didn't get an answer so
far. Meanwhile I can use Vuescan to drive the Nikon 8000 scanner so it isn't
without a task.

Tyler Boley has problems to get an Agfa T2500 working on OSX with Fotolook
3.6X. Agfa isn't very active anymore in scanner development so it will be
difficult to get things right. Tyler doesn't like Vuescan but I got the
impression he could get it working on OSX and with the T2500. Check the
Fotolook OSX thread on the high end scanners list.

I am not Keith either, but I do use Vuescan and like it. To use
Vuescan with ,my Nikon Scanner you need to remove the Nikon software.
I suspect that there is a similar conflict with other scanner
software.

RE: [Digital BW] Vuescan software

2002-11-28 by Tim Atherton

Jerry,

I use Vuescan with Nikon, Canonscan, Umax, Agfa, Acer and Epson scanners on
systems at home and at work. (the Agfa software is actually pretty good when
it works, but as Agfa is now out of the scanner business, they don't really
support it any more).

I just install Vuescan and use it - the software for all the above
manufacturers is also on the various machines - no conflicts yet...

If you look around on the Vuescan page at Hamrick.com, there is a list of
supported scanners

http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/vuescan.htm#supported

all Agfa scanners are supported - we used Vuescan on an Arcus II

(be aware Ed seems to update the Vuescan version about twice a week -
usually adding new scanners, refining it, or fixing a problem a new scanner
addition caused... Save any downloads/updates you do, then if you get an
update you don't happen to like, just revert to the last one you were happy
with.

If you go here you can see the version histories
http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/vuescan.htm )

I generally use Vuescan on all our scanners most of the time. All in all,
the best $49.00 I've ever spent on software

RE: [Digital BW] Vuescan software

2002-11-28 by Lloyd O'Daniel

FWIW, I use Vuescan with a Sprintscan and a Umax flatbed. I also have
Insight and Silverfast installed for the Polaroid and Magicscan/Binuscan
for the Umax. Vuescan doesn't conflict with any of these. I'm not sure
why you have to uninstall nikonscan to use Vuescan.

Bill,

I use both Vuescan and my Nikon LS4000 software; no problems. But I use that
rather nice OS called Windows XP, not the apparently problematic recent
versions of MacOS's that Jerry uses.

Bob, I'm using 9.2.2. I have tried X1.0.3, and really dislike it.
VUEscan would be
used with system 9.2.2.

Nope, VueScan is a GREAT one trick pony... The way I like my
software.. All internal -- doesn't interfere with or change anything
else. You can leave all your TWAIN stuff alone..

I'm also not Keith, but I can say that there is no need to remove
the Epson software for my 2450 when I use Vuescan with it.

I am not Keith either, but I do use Vuescan and like it. To
use
Vuescan with ,my Nikon Scanner you need to remove the Nikon software.

I suspect that there is a similar conflict with other scanner

software.

Thanks Keith, Unfortunately, VUEscan doesn't allow for 2500 DPI
scanning, which I need. It also doesn't appear to have curves or levels.
How do you make changes without them?

Hmmm,,, that's very strange...

Ed says the software won't do 2500 dpi and it's not going to be able to?

If you haven't already write him a note and ask.. He answers questions
quickly..

Let me know what you find..

Jerry,

I'm not clear about your statement that Vuescan doesn't allow 2500 dpi. You
just choose FULL to get max optical resolution on your scanner. Is your
scanner by any chance a 1250x2500 scanner? If so the optical horizontal
resolution is 1250 and by using 2500 you are just interpolating the
horizontal pixels to get 2500. My Epson 1200 is 1200x2400 but only 1200
optical.

Bob, my Agfa T2500 is 2500 DPI OPTICAL resolution. I don't see a "Full"
choice. It's Auto, 1250, 600 etc.

Also I can't find any way to manipulate the image to darken it or
lighten it, or to do anything with it.

I don't see anyplace where curves, levels, contrast, brightness, etc.
can be changed. Very unintuitive
software.

Jerry,

I'd email Ed Hamrick and tell him that 2500 doesn't show up. To change the
white point, black point, brightness, or colors, just move the sliders under
the Color tab or select a different color balance in the top box. If you've
got show changes checked, it will then alternate between the before and
after settings.
