Hello, my 1160 went out of warrenty about 5 weeks ago and will no longer feed EAM... do these things really only last one year and print less than 300 prints or is there something I can do to get it to work again? It will pull thinner papers through, but not EAM. Manual says something about using paper that is "too old," but this stuff is only a few months old (at least when I bought it from B&H). Even tried a "support sheet" even though I haven't ever needed one in the past with this paper (other papers yes). thanks, mark

>Hello, > >my 1160 went out of warrenty about 5 weeks ago First, Mark, I would whine to Epson anyway, because there have been reports occasionally of their giving a break to users only a little off warranty. > and will no longer >feed EAM... do these things really only last one year and print less >than 300 prints No, not normally, or if they do the victims have been keeping quiet about it. > or is there something I can do to get it to work >again? I use paper, much of it EAM/EEM more than a few months old, in both my 1160s w/o any problems. >Even tried a "support sheet" even though I haven't ever needed one in the >past with this paper (other papers yes). I haven't always needed it either, but I try to use one routinely rather than risk ruining a relatively expensive sheet. If I don't forget, it almost never balks. Incidentally, although I'm not sure either matters: I never put more than 15 sheets of EAM/EEM (fewer than 10 of 300 gsm paper) in at once, and I leave the paper thickness lever on "0" (for both). >thanks, > >mark Hope this helps. I had put a couple thousand prints through my second 1160, and it lasted about 3 1/2 years before dying. Can't see what difference it makes on how "old" the paper is! Try cleaning your rollers, they probably have become too smooth to grasp the paper. Jerry "Mark Hahn " wrote:
