Digital BW, The Print

Hi,

I was thinking of buying a roll paper holder and rolls of paper on 
the apparently erroneous assumption that it would be cheaper than pre-
cut. Then I did the math and discovered that a standard 32' Epson 
roll could (theoretically) produce at most 20, 19" prints. And prices 
for rolls are slightly to significantly _higher_ than for boxes of 
20, 13x19" precut sheets, e.g. Prem glossy roll Can$102, box of 20 
13x19 sheets Can$81.50. 

Apart from being able to print oversize panoramics, and presumably 
save on prints that are <18" long, is there any economic advantage to 
the rolls. How come no one else apparently makes 13" rolls for the 
epson printers -- or do they?

Does anyone make 13" roll paper (matte) besides Moab Entrada?  I need 
to make several 12x36" prints.

Hawk Mountain Art offer a couple of options.
Hahnemuehle offer Photorag in thinner weight on rolls.
Somerset Velvet Enhanced available (exact name varies by location).
Inkjetart has Illuminata (own brand).
Among these there is much variety. I've listed ones I've
used recently.  I'm not recommending any above the rest, as personal
preference matters a lot and they are all good papers, note that
sometimes the paper seems a bit different from the sheet of the same
name (possibly just batch variation, I have not used quite enough to
know for sure)
Google will find them for you.

Take a peek at the Website of Exim Vaios in the SF Bay Area of 
California -- they custom cut a variety of Epson Pro Papers and other 
fine-art brands from large rolls. Their cuts are clean and done 
professionally, and they provide some very unique sizes (including
13") that are not available elsewhere. Here's the link to their site:

Digital Art Supplies sells 13 inch rolls of Photo Rag. Probably others 
as well.

Just a FYI .. Hahnemuhle Does Not make 13 inch rolls.. These compaines are
cutting them from available rolls as a custom cut for the consumer..

So Just make sure that you blow the dust off of the rolls..and be prepared
for some finger marks and other things..

They try hard to do it for you thats for sure..

If you look back over past emails there are plenty of people who will tell
you how to cut your own roll..
