Jeff,

I started out with the original Piezo inks, software and a 1200. I
encountered just about all the problems imaginable. Eventually I switched to
a 1280 and MIS inks then on to PiezoTone inks. The real weak link in the
system seems to have been the printer. For whatever reason the 1200 does not
seem to do well with the carbon pigment inks.

I would recommend going to a 1280 if you can and the PiezoTone inks staying
with the Piezo-plugin. MIS-FS, MIS-FSN, or Sundance NC would be other ink
choices.

I have also had the Y inks get used up faster than the other inks and others
have made similar reports. This seems to be normal and can be influenced by
the tonal range of your prints.

I second that... I finally replaced my 1200 with a 1280 using MIS-VM
inks, and life is good. I wish I'd done it earlier, instead of spending
too many hours on trying to unclog it and get decent prints during the
rare times when it wasn't clogged. The 1280's prints are markedly better
(and it's a lot quieter, an advantage when I'm printing when others are
trying to sleep!)

PS on the 1280: I modified the MIS CFS setup so that I could keep the lid
on and closed while not using it, and put a homemade humidifier (a sponge
and a plastic container) inside it, in an attempt to convince the printer
that's it's in Florida instead of California. Apparently printers don't
clog in Florida.
