Refilling 1280 Cartridges

Refilling 1280 Cartridges

2003-03-04 by Tom Husband <thusband@sbcglobal.net>

I took a look at the refilling procedure in the files section and it
sure seems time consuming (three hours), messy and, perhaps, not
worth it. I guess if you want to use certain inks, though, it's the
only way. How many folks fill their own carts?

I for one; Initially because it's much cheaper, but continued doing
it when I decied to come up with my own inkset. Also, I need to
switch from color pigs to color dye to B&W. It's not a three hour
proccess, though it is a nuisance. I vacuum-drain my empties when I
don't feel like doing anything more productive, beats watching your
printer head whip to-and-fro. Fill a couple ahead of time & let them
settle a day or two; if you do it right you ALMOST forget what a
pain it is before you have to do it again!

Tom,

I refill virgin cartidges (from MIS) all the time. It takes me about
30 minutes to fill a T009 cart. I have refilled the black T007, but
find the hassle of extracting residual foam not worth the trouble. I
use the vacuum technique.

Hope this helps.

Shilesh

Thanks Steve and Shilesh, I'll give it another look. It might be
worth it until I settle on an ink and a CIS.

Refilling 1280 Cartridges

2003-07-23 by husband_99

I'm refilling my 1280 carts with UT ink. I have two sets of carts
but am not sure if I should keep refilling the same cart until the
foam prevents another filling or rotate between the two sets. If I
rotate should I seal up the top and bottom of the filled cart with
tape to keep it from drying out until I'm ready to use it? If I use
the same cart how long can I keep the carts out of the printer before
the chamber and nozzles dry out? How do you folks handle this?

Thanks, again, for your help.

Tom
