Canadian supplier for MIS VM inks ?

Canadian supplier for MIS VM inks ?

2003-03-07 by dsmithhfx

Can anyone suggest one?

I recently ordered some paper from the U.S. The shipping via UPS cost
me Can.$50, took 10 days, and when it (finally) arrived I was
presented with an additional bill of $25 for 'customs brokerage'. I
usually get stung by UPS every couple of years, when I forget about
their molasses-slow service and exorbitant rates (FedEx is usually
much better on both counts), during an impulse purchase.

The last order for 4oz bottles of FNS-QUAD-SET ink from MIS cost me
exactly $5.75 for shipping and handling to Canada. It was sent air
parcel post.

I specify USPS, not UPS. USPS + Canada Post is a hard combination to
beat. And they are just as fast as UPS and more secure as far as i'm
concerned.

Inkjetmall insist on Fedex (won't send USPS to Canada, they cite that
foreign country thing). Their last order of same cost me $29.00 for
shipping even though i'm located nearer to them than most of their US
based customers.

Cheers,
Andre

As far as I know MIS does not have a distributor in Canada. TreckHall
was stocking piezo products and some papers (other than Epson) for a
while but they stopped.

I know what you mean about UPS. I nearly had a stroke the first time
they showed up at my door looking to collect 25$ (plus taxes) to
deliver a 5 or 10 USD CD. I won't buy anything from an online supplier
if their only shipping option is UPS. Postal service is great and
FedEx is fast but not cheap (as I'm sure you know).

Treckhall has a $100 min. order. vistek.ca deals Ilford Galerie
papers though you have to search on the name to turn them up (and
they may not have them in stock). I'm convinced the UPS "brokerage
fee" is a scam since others (USPS, FedEx) don't seem to requirer it.
You're right, FE is expensive but not tear-your-hair-out expensive
like UPS.

Gerry Gray of inkrefill.ca sells MIS color dye ink under his own
brand name substantially cheaper (Can.$54 vs. inksupply's U.S.$48),
along with the reset software withdrawn by inksupply.com, but does
not currently have the archival color, or quad/hextones. IIRC he
mentioned he might start selling the quad/hextones in future.
