True resolution of Epson 2450

I note that someone said that the scan results from the 3200 were exactly the same as the 2450. Using Silverfast for the 2450 and the option (Mac) key one can check the actual "hardware resolution". It shows a maximum hardware resolution of 3200 on my machine. Does this mean that, indeed, they are really the same machine?
