Digital BW, The Print

I've finally gotten my new VM setup running, and I printed the step 
wedges found in the files section, but I see no seperation in the 95-
100% area.

What's the remedy? What's the source of my problem?

Are my printer profiles too dark? Should I therefor create a custom 
curve to bring up those values and apply it before each print?

Hello Jason,

I'm about in the same boat as you. I just got a used Epson 1280 off 
ebay Monday and the inks came in Wednesday, so I have been trying to 
get a decent BW print out of it. I had another printer before the 
Epson that tried to do Black only printing. Now I can do really good 
black only printing on the epson. You might want to try it too. It 
is so much more satisfying than trying to get these curves right for 
the hextone printing. With the black only, all it takes is an 
initial curve applied to one stepwedge to bring all of the numbers 
to match the screen. That single curve can be applied to each print 
initially and then just punch "Print" and you are home free. All the 
work goes into creating the image you want and getting just what you 
see on the screen on the print. In the case of the 95% to 100% 
steps, I just raise the numbers on the stepwedge from 9 to 14, 24 to 
31, and any other step to match the numbers at the bottom of the 
stepwedge bar image. If you need further information on black only
