paper feed problems and banding epson 3000

I have prints that are coming out odd sizes-maybe 1/2 inck shorter on
one side, plus the added visual of banding. I took it in and the guy
said it was fine. All the tests he did were with very thin inkjet
paper. He said maybe my paper is too thick. I've moved from 310gsm to
250gsm and now to 190-188 gsm which still has banding and off size.I
can't go below this weight of paper! What should I do? I've printed
on two other 3000's which did not have this problem.

These are common problems for the 3000. I've experienced them myself. I've
never been able to print successfully on any paper greater than 225gsm in my
3000 printer and the use of the 225 usually results in a slightly shortened
image lengthwise. Once in a while I'll get slight skewing of the image. That
is, one long edge of the printed image is shorter than the other. I've
learned to stick with papers less than 200gsm.

I've never had a banding problem with my 3000, but several others have had.
It's just not uncommon.
