Okay, Now I'm Really Confused...

Okay, Now I'm Really Confused...

2003-04-08 by nedbuntline2002

I thought I was getting a handle on this digital printing stuff, but
after reading this board for a few days, I think I'm completely
lost. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am making the move from
wet to digital, and I'm not afraid to study and learn new
technology. I like to get myself completely up to speed on a new
purchase before I pull out my wallet. That said, are there any
tutorial or informational sites out there on digital printing
products and techniques? I've read through Cone's website, and
looked at other inkjet sites, but I'm looking for a clearinghouse of
information to compare different techniques and technologies. Also,
if there are books published on this subject, that would be helpful
as well.

Thanks!

Hello Ned,

I'm still new to digital printing myself and was feeling just as you
do now. I was lucky to have a background in black and white film
photography coming into this digital stuff. Also one particular
website headed me in the direction I preferred. Black and White. The
trouble with black and white is that not many if any printer on the
market is set up to do this simple (?) task. Her is the website :
http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm maintained by Clayton Jones who
posts here from time to time. Another approach to Black and White
printing is MIS associates and Piezography.com. For color printing
I'll have to leave you to your own devices I'm afraid.

Ned,

The IJM and MIS pages with links to the master digital guys are the best
resource - there are no books that can keep you up-to-date. I have a
modest digital page with suggestions for starting out on my site and some
links. I stoked on original piezos, MIS inks and my new Epson 3200
scanner. Don't get no better - at least not for a month or two.
