Thanks K2 - I was looking for the status of cheap 5x7 tranny film only to
discover that it is virtually non-existant!

Julian

It was me who sent you the link originally. I later learned that
7dayshop will only deliver to a UK address, although I'm sure you'll
find ways to get around it since their prices are so good. I have no
experience of ordering from mx2.

Martin has a right to complain about 7dayshop. However, I've only
ever ordered A4 size from them, as this is the only size I print on
gloss/pearl. Any order of multiple 100 sheet boxes are split up and
sent one pack per padded envelopes, as packages arriving in the UK
from outside the EU must be worth less than \ufffd18 in order for the
recipient not to pay duty or VAT. This may be why 7dayshop does not
ship to other EU destinations. Different countries have different
rules? Anyway, my packages arrived fine. I can see that padded
envelopes will not suffice for A3/A3+ sizes though.

well its all your fault! seeing your pdf portfolio made me realise that if I
now can't hold a camera steady and I'm going to have to use a tripod I might
as well return to LF! What has surprised me is the lack of tranny film
available for 5x7 - at any price. It is almost a 'lost' format. BW is fine -
but colour seems to be either 8x10 or 5x4. BTW I've sent for the Phillips
catalogue ;-)

RE: [Digital BW] Re: ilford paper supplier uk

2003-04-13 by Tim Atherton

Your best bet for Provia or Velvia might be Badger in the US (yes, I know
you're in Spain...) - good prices and easy to deal with:

http://www.badgergraphic.com

under Large Format then film

or the view camera store
http://viewcamerastore.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=81&PHPSESSID=3d7927da3f
ca4dccf2b7ee79dcd2b6ad

But it's 20 shts for $100...

(I think only Fuji makes 5x7 transparency now? and even silverprint in the
UK doesn't list it. I think Badger imports it directly from Japan) You could
also try asking the people at Lotus Cameras http://www.lotusviewcamera.at/
or Linhof Studio in the UK http://www.linhofstudio.com/index.html

MIS FS Neutral vs Standard

2003-04-13 by Tim Atherton

In the MIS FS inksets, is there a complete difference between the two
inksets (for a 4 ink printer) - Standard vs Neutral, or is it only one ink
that is different between the two versions (if so, which one...)

thanks

I was just doing research as to what format to go for. My horseman 6x9 is
now on ebay - I was hoping for more variety but I guess I'll go with 4x5.
There is a s/h ebony non-folder locally at a good price.

People really like those ebony's - and if the price is good, great. Their
website has tons of info and downloadable catalogues.

It's my understanding that the black (K) ink is identical for both
sets, the 3 greys are different. That said I have used both and found
the standard beautiful right out of the printer but it warmed
considerably after only a few months. I now use the FS-N which is
slightly cool (ever-so) out of the printer and only warms a tad from
there. BTW, I use an 1160.

Best regards,
 Richard

B&H ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com ) and Adorama ( http://www.adorama.com )
both have Ektachrome Tungsten in 5x7 listed. I don't know if that does you
any good or not.
