I am on digest mode, perhaps someone else has already answered it, but the
pink stripes are an anti-halation backing on Kodak b&w film.  Run it through
hypo clear and it comes right off, then wash it again.  If you don't want to
hassle with hypo clear in in the future, use Ilford B&W film (the kind that
you develop yourself, rather than the C41 process)

Don't know about the weak image, but shoot a roll of slide film, preferably
the same film speed as what you would pick for your B&W.  have the lab
process it and then you will know right away if it is your exposure or
development that needs attention.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
