I am mac user, G4 OSX etc, I would buy a PC in a heartbeat if it would make
a quad on 2200. It is much cheaper to go that route than the other way (PC
to Mac). If print permanence is an issue, 2200 is the only game in town,
and quad is the only way to get darkroom quality. I was planning to buy a
second printer when 2200 quads came out anyway, and add a extra computer to
drive it. The machine itself is productive, so of course I would buy
whatever it takes. I don't want the big printers, all my orders are small
prints and framers don't want the roll paper ultrachromes, I would much
rather have small printers making lots of small prints. I know about the
cost difference. This is a matter of meeting the market.

Hello Tom,

I'm curious about what sort of market you have found for small prints.
Some years ago I grew very fond of small prints and rarely print over
about 6x8 or so. 8x10 is big for me. It's a passionate, spare time
hobby for me, and I haven't tried to market or show my work in several
years (all B&W), but I hope to become more active again.

I'm fascinated by the small artwork I see in peoples homes, hanging in
hallways and other small spaces. It's obvious that people like it and
buy it, and I've always felt there ought to be a way to find that
market. Galleries seem to want everything to be 16x20 or greater.

Anything you can share will be appreciated.

Regards,
Clayton

For the record, I am a Mac user as well. I have never used a PC in my office until I
began this company. I prefer the Mac for most of what I do, short of RIP'ing files and
playing solitaire.

I wouldn't have a PC to this day either if RIP'ing files, plain and simple, wasn't best
done on a) a separate workstation from your creative workstation, and b) a Windows
operating system. Windows is not my idea of elegant but, like you said, better that
second workstation be cheap, productive and easily available. I well sleep at night
(sometimes) by recognizing the PC as the best tool for that particular job, period.

Regarding your requirement for a 2200 driver, I am still looking into the possibility of
adding our screening for the 2200, thereby taking control of the individual ink
channels and I will get back to you as soon as I have some information. Until then, if
you become impatient with my efforts and would like to contact me offline, I would
encourage you to do so.

Cheers,

Robert
