Has anyone used this paper before? I have trouble telling which side is the coated side that i'm supposed to print on. The instructions say the 'rougher' side but its still very difficult to tell. Anyone know if this is another Hahnemühle rebranded paper? Its 190gsm, 100% rag, offwhite looking, and textured. Thanx for the help.

Sounds like Ilford Fineart paper. I have seen that paper and yes the specs are identical to Hahenemuhle William Turner, which can be found much cheaper at inkjetgoodies.com or as Royal Jazz from mediaStreet.com --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Derrick" <chooyeon@s...> wrote: > Has anyone used this paper before? Thanks. I tried the "licking tip" and the "pencil tip" that others have posted previously too. Pencil one works well. Did not like the licking tip at all.... tasted quite weird. Anyway, seems that the coated side always faces the cardboard backing board that is included in the pack, so i'll just use that to figure out the coated side from now onwards. I just happened to have some Ilford Inkjet Fine Art paper (190 gsm) and was less than satisfied. But of course, printed on the wrong side!!! It's also the same paper as Wells Rivers of Piezo fame. Prints quite nicely with the Piezo plugin using that profile. It has a slightly lower Dmax than EEM and up close, 10 inches or less, look less sharp, probably because of the texture. Also has a creamier base than EEM. A fine paper worth considering. Andre, Actually, I remember seeing some densitometric data that William Turner had the highest black density of all matte fineart papers using pigment inks (MIS VM black I believe). I wish I knew where the data was published. Regards. Shilesh, That could very well be, since I'm judging prints side by side. To my eyes EEM has the deeper blacks. William Turner aka Wells Rivers and others brand names has been around quite some time and the W.R. profiles were included with the original Piezo software some three years ago. Could be that at the time of the densitometric test no other paper had deeper blacks. But you mention (MIS VM black) which is more recent, so that kind of dismisses what I'm saying. Maybe Paul knows ?
