MIS speed of delivery

MIS speed of delivery

2003-07-23 by Richard Vanek

Hi,

just like to share with you very nice experience. I have order 6 days
ago UT inks in bottles and all necessary stuff for refilling
cartridges for epson 890.
It tooks only 6 days to deliver to Netherlands! Incredible!

Now one simple qustion:
What should I look for when I change epson original cartridges to
these new MIS UT refilled cartridges?

I plan to fill one set today. Let it sit over night than put it in
printer, leave it there for half a day and than print purge patter
and start printing.

Did I miss something?
Thanks for your sugesstions.

Isn't there an issue going from the Epson OEM ink to the UT inks? I
think I read here that Paul Roark had some clogs.

If I remember right, Paul said you must get all of the old non-UT inks out
of the parking pads to prevent clogging.

I would try soaking up any ink now on the parking pads with a paper towel.
Then I would soak the pads with Windex and soak that up with paper towels.
I would repeat procedure this until you pretty much stopped soaking up black
ink on the towel (you may not be able to get it all). Somebody else might
have a better idea than Windex.

Richard,

That is good. I hope the duties are not too bad.

The Eboni black ink reacts with Epson dyes. So, while MIS says there is not
enough dye in the desktop printer heads to cause problems, I think the head
parking pads might have a lot of dye on them that will be a source of clogs.

What I did with my 1280 that seemed to work was rinse the pads off very
thoroughly with Windex. (Probably a mild ammonia solution or even plain
water would do.) I used a syringe with a small tube on the end of it to
reach the pads and then repeatedly soaked them and dried them with a paper
towel. This totally stopped the clogging I was having after the printer had
sat for a while.

I find when I vacuum fill the 1160 carts, I can stick them in and print
immediately. This is, at least, true for the carts that show the ink all
the way through to the seal at the outlet. I have some carts that still
have air between the outlets and seals that can take a some cleaning cycles
to get started.

With bottom filling your approach is probably better.

Good luck with your printing.

I have no clue what Windex is so I'll go for water.

Thanks. I assume that parking pads are bellow cartridges on right
side. Small sponge looking rectangle on plastic container on springs?
(epson 890)

I order set for bottom filling.

Thanks a lot! This is my first try!
