This is rather frustrating...there is tons of info in the archives on this including some very descriptive posts by Paul Roark. Please look these up. It seems that some of us explain it over, and over again. If someone finds the old posts you could post it again currently for the others. This is why we have the archives. Robert

I can understand your frustration but not all groups and forums are the same. This is the first yahoo Group I ever join and I'm still learning "where everything is". I think a statement like you've made could disuade people from asking questions and the whole point of groups and forums is to ask, discuss, share and learn. I know you mean well, by the way. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Robert Morrison <rmorrison@p...> wrote: > This is rather frustrating...there is tons of info in the archives on > this including some very descriptive posts by Paul Roark. Luis & others, Robert's remark make sound harsh, but as I have been a member of this group since early this year, he's not that way off base. We seem to visit the same subjects over and over again (perhaps it is just the nature of the beast). The coating process is a very interesting process, and I too would love to learn more about it as well. We go over the coating process it seems at least once a month, and spend about a week if not several days going into it. Perhaps in the process (the welcome message) could read a faq indicating that many questions can be answered via the archive. Just my .02 Eileen <snip> luisvcool wrote: > > I can understand your frustration but not all groups and forums are the same. Funny, every group that I belong to works the same way. You go to the web site and type in subjects to search thread names. Typing in coating will get you hundreds of listings. What was frustrating to me was people acknowledging that they had seen things here on the coatings in the past, but wanted us to tell them again. That's what the archives are for. I'm glad to answer questions once people have made an honest attempt to learn from past threads. No body is getting paid here. Its great to share info...but we need to do this in an efficient manner. Just in the last two days I've answered the same question about coating both on list and off list 10 times. I've answered in 50 times before that. Robert

What's nice about a group like this is, if you do not what to answer a question don't, someone else probably will. Steve Robert Morrison wrote:

I love this group and I've learned a lot from it, but like all non-peer reviewed information sources you have to be very careful what you believe. In the end it takes reading a lot of posts and averaging the responses. Ideally people should start from the archives and then ask clarifying questions. Otherwise you are just getting one persons opinion...which is as likely to be objectively wrong as it is right. its not the kind of list that you can just drop in and take a quick look if you want to get the real scope. Its probably better to read Harold Johnson's book for that...of course that will take some time too. Robert
