Oriental inkjet paper update

Oriental inkjet paper update

I spoke this afternoon with Oriental USA about their upcoming coated fiber
inkjet paper. The representative said that they had originally expected to
release the paper in sheets (8.5x11 and 13x19) in August. But they recently
decided to sell it in rolls as well as sheets, and that required retooling, and
so now they do not expect it to be released before November. The roll version
will come in 24, 36 and 42-inch widths, he said.

I was happy to hear about the expanded options, but chagrined to hear of the
delay in getting the sheet papers to market. Alas.

Yeah, this was the story back in May when i got test sheets...at that
point the release date for the rolls and sheets was August...so I'm
betting that we don't see a final product before the 1st of the year.
Oriental USA is convinced that there is no way to make money in the
sheet market and that higher volume sales through rolls is the way to
go. Given what I've seen from the base of this paper It may work in
rolls...but I'm somewhat skeptical because of its weight.
