PT ink and version 6.0 piezography software

PT ink and version 6.0 piezography software

2003-08-01 by Wilfred Smith

Hello. I have been away for a while. My older Piezography ink finally
ran out. I have ordered the PT Selenium and portfolo black. I was
told that the older software would work well with the newer ink. Do
you think I will bet good results or should I be doing something
else. I kind of liked the software, I never used a paper that was pre
profiled. I chose the unsupported option and set the dot density
below the default and made nice prints. What are my chances of this
success with the new inks.

Wilfred,

it never hurts to try the old plug in and see how you like it. If you do, you are in
business - if you don't , the best course is software that allows you to profile
your own ink/paper/printer combinations. Currently solutions that allow a
version of that include: QuadTone RIP, Ergosoft's StudioPrint, IJC/OPM, and
possibly RGB curves (like Paul Roark's).

Info for all these is in the list archives (i.e. you may want to search the
messages on the list homepage for more details).

Antonis

Wilfred,

If you were able to make the older inks work well, you
should be pleasantly surprised with the new. I
switched from MIS FS to Piezotone without any
alteration of my working or printing methods.

Good luck,
Don

You ask AFTER you bought?

I have to ask why you wouldn't ask first? Unless you just want positive
reinforcement for a choice you already made..

You must be real fun at car dealerships..

Especially, if he's asking the car dealer across the street...

This poster certainly got help by coming here, if I were Mr. Smith I
don't think I'd bother to come back.
Many people have switched to the new inks very successfully, and
you'll have more hue choices and much better longevity. There are
other choices of course.

I wish to thank those who were helpful in their comments concerning
my questions about PT ink and older version of Piezography software.
I feel I am at fault for not stating part of my question correctly.
Seems some are wondering if I need positive re-enforcement about a
decision I had already made. The answer to this is NO. I am a big boy
and have made mistakes before and will make mistakes again. What I do
however is make my own decisions. I made the decision to go with the
PT inks because of very good luck with Piezo inks and felt it was
supported by a reputable and well run company. After reading the
reviews and the advertisement claims and the fact that ink-jet mall
seems to have thier act together and if the new ink is what they
chose to go with, then I am in. If it is a mistake and doesn't work
out, then I will consider another route. My question in the original
posting were not meant to solicite imput about other ink-sets, just
other methods to use the PT inksets. It is my fault however for
wording it as I did. ie. "Or should I be doing something else". This
statement was to meant to say, should I, or do you think, I will have
better success with other output methods , such as profiles,
curves, etc. I would perfer to use the original software and drivers.
If I can I will, and if not I will do whatever it takes to get the
kind of prints I want. And that even includes throwing away 300 bucks
worth of ink and going another ink-set. I do not need the greater
percent of you all, to decide which ink and paper is best. If I ask
questions about what ink-set to go with, I would have gotten about an
equal percent for and against any given ink-set. I realize there is
much expeirence with different inksets by those on this forum. This
is why I ask questions about your experience and knowledge of product
that I have already decided to try. Not to be positively reinforced.
