Printing on 310g paper

Printing on 310g paper

2003-08-06 by Hans

Hi there

I am fairly new to B&W printing and have a question for you experts.

I recently bought an Epson 1160, already wired up with MIS quadtone
inks. After some playing around with Epson matt paper I discovered
Lyson Standard Fine Art paper.

The results are superb. Now my question: The paper is quite thick
(310 g), does that do any harm to the printer? I know there is a
lever that you can put to '+', but then the dots become streaks, when
viewed under a lupe, so I would prefer the 'normal' position. The
printer seems to handle it quite well, but I don't want to harm the
transport mechanism, or the print head.

Regards and thank you
Hans

Hans,

Which MIS ink set and workflow are you using? Ordinarily, I would
think the "+" position would be advisable; it's the position I use on
my 1160 with MIS Full Spectrum inks and EEM paper. No dots or streaks
with the Randall workflow.

Hans,

When you flip the lever to "+" are you also running a
print head alignment in the epson print utility before
printing?
