Green Tint

Green Tint

2003-09-03 by Bob

I have been trying to print black and white images on an Epson 2200
using Enhanced matte paper. The images appear to have a green tint
to them. Any suggestions on how to eliminate this phenomenon?

Thanks

ultratone carts in 2200

Hey folks (specifically Carl and Daniel). I'm about to order a set of
the ultratone carts from MIS. The lovely and helpful Diane asked me
which black I wanted to use, and initially I thought eboni, but figured
I'd check first.

I'm planning on taking 2 software approaches. 1) Use carl's 2200 curves
in QTR via linux, and 2) use the Roark curves for the 1280/1290 which
have been modified for the 2100/2200 ( I thought this was Daniels
territory?).

Anyhoo, which black did you guys test/develop these methods with?

TIA!

I used Eboni in the black position and MIS LK in the light black
position.

I also have some curves with much less severe RGB adjusments than Paul's
curves, but they will give you some slight dotting in the highlights.
(Less than Imageprint and the OEM carts, but still visible)

Try Roy Harrington's Quadtone RIP and see if that does it for you, else you are into
using different ink sets etc Read thru the archives on this forum for all the possible
variations.....Roy's solution works well for me (I use an Epson 2100) and saves me
having to dedicate a printer to B&W

get the gray balancing software, pick a lighting to balance for,
spend lots of time and you can get it to look perfect in that one
lighting situation... but it will still look green or red under other
lighting:)

Does this RIP come in a format for the PC? All I see at the site is
the MAc's version.

Guess who finally got their 2200 carts?

Daniel, I'd like to try your adapted Roark curves for the 2200. Can
you post those PS curves somewhere accessible? You can email them
directly to me if you don't have a server to post them on.

RE: [Digital BW] ultratone carts in 2200

2003-09-08 by Daniel Staver

You can download them here:
http://download.petraflux.com/ultratone2100curves.zip (804 bytes)

The Neutral warm and Warm curves will print a little too bright because
I managed to linearize them to a miscalibrated stepwedge. I've been
meaning to fix that for some time, but for now the best solution is to
offset the brightness with a slightly darker curve layer below the
separation curve.

The Medium cool curve is a very experimental curve I did a few days ago,
it probably still needs some work...

Let me know how it works out for you.
