Printing problem from QTR2 and IP to 2200

Printing problem from QTR2 and IP to 2200

2003-09-08 by culturalvisions

The 2200 with G4 desktop or my G3 iBook does not respond when I try to print
from ImagePrint Rip or Quadtone Rip 2.0. It seems that I am doing something
wrong, but I don't know what. The 2200 woks fine when printing out of OPM
or the standard Epson driver. It even prints through the QTR2 when I have the
printing software set on QTR2 Calibrate. Unfortunately, that setting does not
seem to allow for any adjustment.

Yes, I've followed the instructions on IP and QTR2 meticulously and had a
friend with both systems installed go through it with me. I am running OSX
2.6 and everything else seems OK. Has anybody had this problem?

Frank,

It sounds like the OS X print system is somehow hungup. It's very strange
that the calibrate mode would work but not the regular mode. OPM and
the Epson driver reach the printer in completely different ways -- but at
least their working says your hardware is connected correctly. I'm not
sure how IP connects through OS X to the printer.

You could check the error_log using Print-Gimp-Errorlog. This may or
may not give you a hint about what is wrong.

Anyway, my suggestion is to Delete the printer from Print Center and re-add
it. That will clear out the spooling queues and reinitialize them. You
will have to run Run-Install-Curves again to get the curves back.

One place to look is at the descriptor file eg 860-fs.txt. I had a
similar problem until I found a typo made when I modified one of the
canned files to fit my paper and inkset. Once I found the typo,
corrected it and reloaded using run-quadprofile I was able to print.

Thank you Roy and Roger for your suggestions. Unfortunately, I
couldn't get anything working. It is interesting to note that after
tossing the 2200 from Print Center and reloading it (along with
fresh profiles) the printer started to respond. Print Center said
that the QUAD2200 was printing. It said that for about 5 seconds
and then it disappeared and nothing else happened.

I'm going to throw out and reinstall OSX 2.6 next. I hate doing it,
but it probably is a problem on that level. It is curious that it
would occur in both machines.
