B&W on Epson 9000

My local camera store is having trouble printing b&w on his 9000. He is using photoshop 7.0, standard epson drivers and epson photo glossy & matte paper He is converting image to grayscale and then back to rgb for color printing. He is having his prints come out with a very light to noticable magenta cast to his prints. More pronounced in darker areas. Question is, is there a good way to make these prints without printing in black only? Sorry if this question has already been answered, but while searching, could not find a solution.
