Digital BW, The Print

I have very recently become interested in B&W printing, after making a
few prints on Epson Velvet Fine Art with Epson 2200 and IP 5.6. 
Images were scanned color transparencies converted using Convert to
B&W Pro Photoshop plug-in.

I have searched this group and read previous articles, but couldn't
find direct comparisons of the Ultra-tones to my current setup.  Would
I benefit from using the Ultra-tones in an Epson 1280 (I have one
which a friend is "borrowing" for the moment) over the 2200/IP
combination?

I would especially appreciate any comments from anyone who has used
both systems, or seen comparison prints from both.  Also, how much
trouble is it to set up the CIS, and what is the cost saving
(approximate percentage) over cartridges?
