Epson 2200: MK to PK Ink Swap ...To do or not To do

Epson 2200: MK to PK Ink Swap ...To do or not To do

2003-10-28 by jborkowski78

Once a cartridge has been installed (ie. punctured), does anyone
have experience switching back and forth between photo and matte
black cartridges?

If so, are there any tricks to preventing the inks from drying out?
Storage orientation? In a plastic bag? etc.

Or is this a risk not worth taking...in terms of dried out ink,
clogging heads, other damage to the printer, and/or print quality?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

JB

Just swap the carts. I just put the one not being used in a plastic bag.
Nothing leaks from it and I've never had a problem with drying or clogs.

I haven't had any problems, and I've left the cart sitting open on the table
for a couple of weeks once. I usually stick it in a ziploc, although whether
that's actually useful or just waving a dead chicken I can't say.

JB,

this line of Epson carts uses a sophisticated valve that prevents leaks or
drying out. In fact, because it is proprietary to Epson, third party carts may not
have it (and so beware...).

As others have said, I too, just stick the half used cart in a ziplock for the sake
of not pushing my luck. Officially you are not required to do this. Swapping
works fine and is safe to do with Epson inks and carts.
