ultratone greys with epson uc black, bad idea???

ultratone greys with epson uc black, bad idea???

2003-11-11 by ejohn182002

here is a two part question:

paul r-back when you did some testing on eboni black, museum black, and epson uc
black, how did the epson stack up in terms of longevity? i remember eboni and
museum pretty much being the same, i forgot where the epson fit in.

why i ask? i just received the grey ut carts for my 2200 and i was going to use them
with the uc black instead of eboni and create profiles via QTR. my thinkin' was that it
was one less cart to change out and one less variable to maybe muck up the printer. i
print quite a bit of color with this printer and want to keep cart switching to a
minimum. now i am wondering if the uc black will be very compatible with the ut
greys. ie is my attempt at alleviating a very minor inconveniance actually going to
lead to greater problems. any thoughts before i plop the carts in my printer?

thanks

All three are outstanding.

As far as I know the UC matte K is compatible with the UT grays. I have
used it with the UT inkset, and it is what I recommend for people who are
having trouble with Eboni.

The main difference is the it is warmer than Eboni. I can see the
difference in some of my shots with the near-black, heavily-filtered skies.
In these situations I do prefer Eboni, but the UC Matte Black is an
excellent ink and what I'd use if Eboni caused me any problems.
