A good idea to add would be to delete the "Yahoo Sponsor Group" and
below portion of the text as well. It can get a little overwhelming if
you have to scroll through multiple messages and that bottom portion as
well.

The best method to get replies shorter is by putting your answer
underneath the original. First because writing at the bottom
usually means you have actually seen the length of the original
message, second because the chance you actually read the message
is higher so your answer is more to the point, third you weed
more unrelevent text out because your ego doesn't like to be
buried underneath all that text. The longer the thread the better
it works. The most satisfying reply in a thread is the one that
ends the thread. That doesn't mean it has to be the smartest
reply, an extremely stupid one can work as well ........

Ernst,

Please don't! I don't read half your postings because I can't be bothered to
scroll down through reams of old postings to get to your words of wisdom. If
you want to be read, put your thoughts FIRST, please. I've already read the
other stuff; I don't need to read it again.

The problem with this forum at the moment is that 80% of the posts
have nothing to do with B/W printing. There are a lot of opinions
about nothing and a lot of flame wars between very few parties. A
awfull lot of these posts should not be posts at all but email
exchanges between the people concerned. This type of board lets
everyone try to get "the last word", just look at the drivel over
the last week and you will see what I mean. So it doesn't really
matter if the subject matter is at the top or the bottom. I bet that
very few people actually have the option of recieving email's set on
yahoo. If I did my finger would be worn out by tapping the delete
key!

RE: [Digital BW] To all: please limit your postings to necessary lenght

As moderator I would request that people limit the amount of an earlier post
that gets repeated as a thread progresses. Just leave enough so that people
will understand your reply. The less cluttered the archive is, the easier it
will be for people to search for information.

One thing that I used to see in lists were:

SNIP, (Snip), (Snip Earlier)

To indicate that portions of the preceding message that you were replying to
had been removed for the sake of brevity and letting people know that they
could look in the earlier message if they wanted the full text.

Whether the response comes before or after the message you are replying to
is a matter of personal choice. I vary it myself. If the original message or
topic is short, before works great. If you are replying to a long message in
sections then after seems to be easier to follow.
