Colin, drop Nij a line at www.mwords.co.uk, he was the unofficial
coordinator of the last europe meet. BTW I'm over in London late Nov if
anyone wants to do a second euro printer meet.

Re: [Digital BW] MIS Ink Sample

2001-10-09 by Colin Anderson

Nij,

The piezo sample is great. The ink is quite warm to my eyes. I did get a
sample from Jon Cone about 5 months ago, but it had quite bad micro-banding
on it. I don't attribute this to the Piezo though as I have micro-banding on
my prints too with the OEM carts (much to my chagrin) which I have been
unable to get rid of as yet.

I am however now seriously considering buying the Piezo system you'll be
glad to hear as I intend purchasing something in the next month or so. I'd
still like to see what the MIS system prints like though, it's just the way
I am. I like to have all the facts :) I think I will end up buying Piezo
though as it seems to be very much a plug-n-play system. Of course, I'll
have to get a different printer.

I would definately be interested in a 'Euro' exchange even if I end up just
using OEM carts. Though I guess I'd better get my order in for the Piezo
soon, huh *grin*?

Cheers,
Colin.

Me too! I was shocked that they would send out samples with such sever
banding! That, to me, means they have severe banding problems too, and
either don't know it...or know it, and that's the way it is! I don't like
either answers.

Colin, is you printer under warranty? If you have microbanding using oem,
get rid of the printer.

Yes it is. I didn't realise I could use the warranty for that. I shall look
into it.

Thanks,
Colin.

Re: [Digital BW] MIS Ink Sample

2001-10-09 by Julian Thomas

The Epson warranty is really good, and microbanding isn't the hallmark of a
properly working printer! If you plan to use any kind of B/W inks, these
will test the printer more than OEM inks, so get the printer right now! I
called Epson tech support and the next day a guy came around with a new
printer.

RE: [Digital BW] MIS Ink Sample

2001-10-09 by Nij

I agree entirely!

FWIW, I have a set of MIS VM inks to test, but time is short. As far as I am
concerned, just like Piezo, this product probably has a market etc of it's
own. I only tried vaguely, but a question to MIS to see if they wanted a UK
distributor fell on apparently deaf ears. I would not plan on 'marketing'
the product in quite the way I am with Piezo, but offer it, if you like, as
a 'service' to those people wanting to play around! But I'm not pushing
this... and there are other possible options like Spectratones.

Piezo is very plug-and-play, but, it does demand a good printer,as I am sure
you are aware by now. But, my personal take on this is "There is NO big deal
about demanding a printer to print a 20" image at 20", and with all nozzle
firing!" Loosely speaking, I don't care if a printer can print a 20" image
at 19.75" without you being able to notice it :) It just don't make sense to
me ;)

Best,
Nij
