New method for 2200 BW

New method for 2200 BW

2003-12-09 by sanfo2003

I picked up the magazine "Mastering Digital Photography", a
specialized issue from Photo Techniques magazine. In that issue is an
article by Paul Schranz titled "Making Grayscale Pigment Prints on
the Epson 2200" where Mr. Schranz outlines a printing method using
the restricted gamut of the ColorMatch colorspace. I tried it and it
works really well, except the shadows block up a bit below about 5%.

In my opinion, this method gets the best results yet when printing BW
on the 2200 using OEM inks without a RIP, and it couldn't be simpler.

I would love to descibe the method but fear copyright issues. If you
run across the magazine, check it out.

Copyright only covers the words, not the method.

I purchased the magazine at a Borders Books store. On the cover it
says it will be displayed on news stands thru Dec. 31st. Perhaps
someone braver than I would be willing to post.

Like Paul said, only the words are copyrighted. Re-write the procedure
in your own words and you are safe.

BTW, the Mastering Digital Photography book itself is for sale on their
web site:

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
