QTR Problems on 1280

QTR Problems on 1280

2003-12-16 by Peter Page

Hi,

I've been reading messages in this group for some time now in an
effort to decide on a good B/W workflow and have to say I really
appreciate the wealth of knowledge here.

From the comments I've read I took the plunge and picked up
a "cheap" Mac (I've been with Windows all my life)and downloaded
QTR.

Everything seemingly installed perfectly and I was able to make the
calibration prints successfully. All the "calib.quad" files print
fine when using the "QuadTone RIP Calibration" setting in the
printer Feature Sets. For some reason though I can't seem to get my
printer to output using the newly made Quad curves when using
the "QuadTone RIP" setting. When I sent a step wedge to the printer
nothing printed. The printer icon did appear as if it were going to
print but then just dissappeared. I tried making a curve with the
supplied ink descriptor files but still nothing.

Does anybody know what I might be doing wrong?

I have a Powerbook G4 OSX 10.3, Epson 1280.

As I said I've been with Windows forever and Mac is totally new to
me but I feel I'm getting a handle on it pretty quickly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!......on or off list.

Thanks

Peter

Peter,

I had that same problem on my 1160. I think the answer was to not use a
custom paper size. Either that, or make a custom paper size with
margins equal to zero and save that paper size in print center.

I think it's a bug in the OSx print center.
