Light Impressions True Core boxes?

Light Impressions True Core boxes?

2003-12-21 by Jon

Anyone using these storage boxes for prints? They have come out with a 13x19
box some time ago and I think I'll pick a few up.

However, it doesn't look like they make the buffered interleaving tissue in
that size.

Jon,

I have used the beige ones for a long time. They work well - but as for archiveability, I
have no way of knowing what they'll do years from now. I trust their specs and the
fact that I haven't seen anything nasty happen in the last 10-12 years of using them
(with darkroom silver prints). And yes, interleaves are a problem at that size. Clear
bags may be a workaround, though not the same thing by any means ...

I've used these and other Light Impressions boxes for a variety of
purposes, including print storage, and been pleased with them all.

I hope someone posts a solution to the 13x19 interleaving-tissue
problem. Among other things, I'd consider asking Light Impressions to
cut a larger size down for me.

Antonis, interleaving can be had on rolls as well for larger prints. Actually. I've been using glassien, on rolls, for big prints as the surface is slick and won't scuff or grab any paper surface bits if it slides.

Hi Antonis,

Ok, thanks for the info, that is good to hear. I'll email and ask LI if
there are any 13x19 interleaving tissue options in the works.

Tyler,

I thought glassine was not for long term storage - though LI makes it sound
pretty archival. Otherwise I like the look.
But what's with the 40" roll.... couldn't they go out to 44"? <g>

www.inkjetgoodies.com sells 13x19 interleaving tissue.
Look under "Print Storage and Coatings" on their web site.
Would that work for you?

Tyler,

Any 13" or 19" rolls? Source?

Probably true, and I should amend my comments. I've been using it for
packaging, not long term storage.

Not sure, there is an acid free version here at Daniel Smith. But acid
may be only one of a plethora of longevity problems we have yet to
sort out. Seriously considering uncoated papers again.

Us inkjet folks will always be frowned upon, it's not real art you know.

I don't recall the roll sizes, but none were all that convenient, all
would require cutting sheets to size.
See David Wroblewski's post, looks like he has an answer for you.

Heeeey, just what I was looking for... as I don't have a way of cutting
tissue down at home.

Thanks a bunch,

Jon
