Truman --

How long has it been since you began to attack this clog? My own experience
with many clogs in both of my Epson 1160s is that, if the various remedies
you have tried do not seem to be working, a rest period of a day or two (not an
hour or two) may do the trick. On a few occasions, when I was ready to
completely give up on the printer, I suddenly found I was getting a perfect nozzle
check. Try resisting the urge to keep cleaning for a few days and see what
happens. Let us know.

Windex contains ammonia, which is highly corrosive, if you use it in
your print head, as I did, you will find that it is likely to damage
the circuit board which is part of the head, which is what happened
to mine. Use a Epson approved cleaner or just pure water. If you
can't clear a clog with cleaning cycles you are in trouble.
You are better off not using any inks that have a history of
clogging. I have experiance with a 1200, 1270, 3000, 1160 and a 2200.
The 2200 using the UC inks and the QTR rip to produce fantastic B/W
prints, NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, clogs even after letting it sit
without printing for many days. The 3000 has minor clogs which are
usually cleared with a couple of cleaning cycles. The rest all had
major clogging problems which resulted in the need for new heads
after using Windex....I'm a slow learner...

Windex with ammonia contains ammonia. There are other variations
available. But, many folks have solved clogs with Windex. Not in the
heads, though; under the the heads on paper towel. Techniques should be
searchable at the Yahoo portal.

Caution: water means distilled water, not tap or bottled water. The
stuff they sell you to drink is not pure.
