I really like the "rotatrim" brand or style of paper trimers. The guillotine
style I also have, but it doesn't cut square often enough, it tends to pull
the paper. Probably could find a new one on e-bay.

Another vote for Rotatrim. Pricey, but high quality. Excellent value.

Cheers,

Mitch

Jef,

I have always used Rototrim cutters. They hold up to continuous (ab)use by
students.

Same here. For photo paper cutting the RotoTrim sets the standard.
They are well built. I'm using one over 10 years now & still going
strong.

Clayton

We have four Rotatrims in our finishing area. All are used heavily by
students. Other than blade changes we have had no problems. In addition,
I can think of two more reasons for the rotary cutter: the ability to
make a hair-thin cut (the guillotine style cutters don't like to do
that) and it's really tough to cut your finger on a Rotatrim.

Re: OT: Quality Paper Cutter...

I just bought a 15" Rotatrim from B&H and am having problems with
some of my photos "slipping" under the stopping metal ruler (what you
push the paper up against, to square it up). It slips under at the
end closest to the cutting edge, right by the "0" on the cutting
board. Is this happening with anyone else? It's really annoying as
after cutting, I realize part of the photo slipped under and turned
the photo, making my cut crooked! Plus this thing wasn't cheap..

thanks,

Daniel,

Operator error :-) You should be holding the paper firm against the ruler
and pushing the blade bottom to top - towards ruler. The clear plastic
guide is NOT where the cutting blade aligns. You align cut with the
straight blade. Can't think of anything else you may be doing.
