21-Step Wedge printing

21-Step Wedge printing

2004-01-28 by nextxixar

Hi,
I'm going to measure Dmax for my papers using 21-Step Wedge image file of Paul
Roark. (with Spectrocam and Sepctrocam 1.7.2 for Mac OS X)

I want to know setting of print pannel for printing 21-step Wedge image file.

==============
Sorce Space: Document Space
Print Space: Same As Source

Advanced Setting, 1440 or 2880 dpi, etc.
No Color Adjustment
==============

Is this right?
Thanks,

younghoon

That'll do it. Of course, you don't need the whole wedge just to find the
Dmax. But it's worth knowing if the paper/ink/driver combo clips at the low
end--often, you find the last few patches are nailed to black. I suppose
it's even possible that 100% will be less dense than 95%, because of the way
the driver mixes colors with the black.

Many Thanks! :-)

What are the best settings for the Spectrocam and what reading are you using to determine dmax?
Mine is set to observer 2 degree, illuminant D50, density status I, absolute checked (in CIE Data Window).
Which do you read:
Density values (C,M,Y,Vis)
L,a,b,C
hue
u,v
Thank you very much. I have always wondered which reading actually is giving the dmax.

What is the procedure for measuring reflection density using a Spectrocam.

My setting is just same as yours, and I thought 'Vis' value is Dmax.
Am I wrong?
