Best bulk feed system?

Best bulk feed system?

2004-01-23 by yes

Hi--I'm trying to decide which is the best (easy to install,
reliable, economical)
bulk feed/continuous ink system for an inkjet printer (I have an
Epson 1160). So
far I've found the CIS system from InkjetMall.com ($150), the Niagara
III
continous inkflow system from MediaStreet.com ($150), and the MIS
Continuous
Flow System from InkSupply.com ($68.50). Ink is extra for each system.

Is anyone willing to relate experiences, problems, recommendations?
I'd like to
use black-and-white inks in this printer, if that makes a difference.
Thanks for
any advice!

I use the MIS system. I bought the prefilled bulk system for my Epson 1270
so I wouldn't have to fill anything with ink. It installed just like the
instructions said and I haven't had any problems with it since.

the niagras *look* like they are better, but when you have a problem
you are on your own, period. My friend was able to get his credit
card company to fight for a refund for his defective niagra system
before going to MIS. While they all should install pretty easily, I
think you are going to end up futzing with them from time to time.
Somehow, every 6-10months I lose air space in my carts with my
MIS/1160 setup and have to pump air back into them and let them sit
for 24hrs before printing again. MIS also suggest that you cycle ink
through your system occasionally (ie. pull ink through the carts a
few times). Because of the lack of guarentee and support from the
other sources I would only go with MIS.

Re: [Digital BW] Best bulk feed system?

I agree to earlier posts regarding support - MIS has been very good
for me WRT resolving issues. I used VM on their 1160 CIS, and now use UT.

A few related recommendations - toss out your bulk inks when they
reach their expiration date (MIS now labels theirs with a expir.
date). The pigments tend to precipitate out eventually (at least I
think that's what's happening), and you can get the 'mother of all
proverbial clogs' as a result. Also print out something at least once
a week (preferably even more often), and leave the printer off when
not in use to keep the heads parked where they're less likely to dry out.

I also recommend getting the prefilled carts w/tubes from MIS, rather
than filling your own - much less hassle for very little more $$$'s.

The UT inks and curves yield a remarkably smooth print for a 4 color
printer - I think you'd be pleased with them on the 1160.

Now I just need to bone up on the color options and latest printer
capabilities - time to replace my ancient Photo 750...

I've been using a Niagara system from Mediastreet on an Epson 2200 for over 6
months. My experience with the ink is very good, both in color and B&W.
Both requires profiles, either the standard (some of them on Medistreet site), or
custom. Medistreet developed 4 custom profiles for me, I just sent the test prints to
them.

The single issue I had with Medistreet has been on paper, because
they sell a paper type that cannot be used with theyr Generations inks and Epson
2200 (but the site doesn't tell it).

I wonder if I could put different inks inside the cis ...
