This prompted me to cue up a test print and try it. I selected Black Only, Premium Luster (heresy for a fine art group) and 2880 HighSpeed. The head alignment on the 4000 is so good, that you can do hs/bi-directional printing as a default without worry about banding. I also did resolution test and the native resolution of the printer is a full 360 PPI. So a "checkerboard" of alternating black/white pixel values prints perfectly, so there is not advantage to running unidirectionally. It took less than 5 minutes and is definitely brown tone. Neutral tone comes from printing color with ICM, but don't forget to convert to RGB from Grayscale, otherwise you get a green print. All in all, the 4000 does a good job with B&W right out of the box, but not as good as Quads, of course. Claude Jodoin [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
