Epson 4000 BO and profiling

Epson 4000 BO and profiling

2004-05-11 by brinkker2000

Has anyone tried using BO with the Epson 4000, and specifically using
Eboni Black? And, I presume you would purchase Eboni with a Matte
chip for this 8 channel printer?

Also, I plan on getting about a half a dozen paper and printer
profiles made and I presume I better have the Eboni ink loaded even
though their is very slight differences in tone...? And, I should
add if the friggin' thing everrrrrr gets here!

I'm surpised more folks just don't get their printers & papers
profiled because it virtually removes all color casts in B&W if done
properly ... BO works really well too, and I want to have both
options.
Thanks for the help.
Steve

My blacks with the 4000 using UC as shipped and all inks, not black only, are
stunning. Better than my silver prints, which use a VERY slighty warm paper (it doesn't
look warm until you put something cold beside it).

So why mess with another ink?

and as you point out, the right profile is important, so certainly you would have the right
ink in right

:~)

I am expecting not to need a custom profile based on 4000 demo prints that I have seen,
but it will take another day or two to be sure.
