Removing MIS cartridges: how big a mess?

Removing MIS cartridges: how big a mess?

2004-05-11 by edrudolpho

Hi all... a truly newbie question here. I have an Eboni cart in a
2200 printer. It is the first MIS cartridge I've used. Having heard
that these carts are not self-sealing, I'm wondering how big a
mess it'll be if I remove it and what, if any, precautions people
take.

thanks for any info on this!

Should be no problem removing it but don¹t leave it lying on its side or
with the hole down

So then it should be stored upside down?

No don't do that, it will likely cause other problems. Have a 2"
piece of tape ready and tape tightly over the hole immediately. also
have a piece of plastic or paper covering the work surface, as there
may be a drop or two will spill during the taping. Also be prepared
to wash your hands immediately because some will get on your fingers
and if it dries it's hard to remove.

Regards,
Clayton

Hello Scott,

>use the little steel plugs that came with the cartridges

I've never gotten any plugs with mine. I just checked a new one on
the shelf - no plug included.

Clayton

Clayton, the plugs are a few cents each. Next time you order from MIS,
just buy a lifetime supply for an extra 50 cents. They're handy.

-Clayton
regarding the metal plugs, you can purchase the metal plugs from a
hardware store, (rivets), take an empty cartridge and exp. with
sizes.

Ah, I am thinking of the ones that come with CIS. Maybe I am answering the wrong
question?

They do sell the plugs separately though, used to anyway. They fit right in the
cartridge output, stopping any MORE ink from getting out (by any more I mean not
counting what I/we got on the ceiling during the struggle)

 :~)
