Hi, I am still learning how to use the Epson 2200 and Eboni ink. Is there a list somewhere of the compatible papers for this printer and ink combination? Thanks, Fred Rothenberg

Hello Fred, >I am still learning how to use the Epson 2200 and Eboni ink. >Is there a list somewhere of the compatible papers for this >printer and ink combination? Eboni will work well on any matte paper, but will look a bit different on each one. So it's a matter of which you like the best. You didn't say if you are using BO or not, but with that technique and Eboni ink a range of tones can be produced with different papers. Here is my current list of favorites: H. White Velvet - very warm H. Photo Rag - moderate warm Hawk Mtn Merlin Smooth - slightly warm Hawk Mtn Condor BW - neutral, looks really black Regards, Clayton Info on black and white digital printing at http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm

Hi Clayton, If you haven't tried it, Eboni on Entrada Fine Art Natural (190) looks pretty neutral (2200, B/O) to me. Are you using Condor in roll form or as cut sheets? Roger Roger L Sopher rlsopher@... http:\\deCorrales.com

Hi Clayton, Thanks for the info. Yes, I have been using the Eboni for BO printing. I have also tried it with color. Think I'll try the Condor BW. Hello Roger, >If you haven't tried it, Eboni on Entrada Fine Art Natural (190) >looks pretty neutral (2200, B/O) to me. I was thinking of trying some Entrada BW because I'd heard it was cool like Condor, but someone said it was similar but with less Dmax so I never tried it. But I've heard good things about the Natural version, so I'd like to give that a try. Right now I'm piled up with computer work and my time is severely restricted, but I'll get to it eventually. I'm really loving the results I'm getting with Eboni. That ink really opened up a whole new world. I think the entire history of digital BW printing can be described as being of two eras: BE and AE (Before Eboni and After Eboni) <g>. >Are you using Condor in roll form or as cut sheets? Using cut sheets. Regards, Clayton Info on black and white digital printing at http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm

Clayton, I just finished testing Entrada Bright White and Natural against several of my regular papers. The BW prints way to cold (blue) for my taste; even at the warmest tint setting in IP. The Natural, however, has now become my favorite paper. Of course, tinting is certainly in the eye of the beholder but, to my eye, the Entrada Natural prints slightly warm, and seems to have the same base paper color and surface characteristics as Epson Ultrasmooth and PremierArt HotPress. I have found that prints from my Epson 2200, UC inks, IP driver, on Entrada Natural look very close in "color" to the older silver papers that I printed on years ago in the darkroom--Varilour Black, Ilfomar, Ilfobrom, original Zone VI Brilliant, etc. I never liked the bluish tone of, say, Kodak Elite. Different strokes...I guess. FWIW, Alan Huntley

Hello Alan, >I just finished testing Entrada Bright White and Natural against several of my regular papers. The BW prints way to cold (blue) for my taste; even at the warmest tint setting in IP. The Natural, however, has now become my favorite paper. Thanks for the report. Makes we want to try some of the Natural. Have you also tried Condor BW, and if so how did it compare to Entrada BW? I had one report saying the Entrada was similar cool but poorer Dmax. Same here. In my early days I used Oriental Seagull but grew to prefer slightly warmer. My favorite was Ilford MGII FB. I still have three 250-sheet boxes in my freezer (anybody want to buy it?<g>. Today I mostly print on Merlin, as it is just slightly warm, but for certain prints either Condor for cold or PR for moderate warm. For very warm I really like the new H. White Velvet. It is very much like Velvet Fine Art in color but without the texture, which I prefer. It's a nice smooth surface.
