What kind of densitometer

What kind of densitometer

2004-07-10 by mkitei

I just linearized a stock profile using my epson 2450 scanner according to the
directions given in the ijc-opm documentation. I was getting very nice prints
with the original profile, but thought I might improve them. I got mud.

It occurs to me that a densitometer might be the answer. Or at least a better
alternative than the scanner.

What kind of densitometer do I need. How much should I expect it to cost?

Mike

Hello Mike,

The X-Rite 810 is a very good densitometer, I've seen them on E-bay pretty
cheap $100 - $200. You can also use just about any spectrophotometer, we
use the X-Rite DPT41T-UV. The MacBeth eye-one also works very well and I
think is less expensive.
