A great technique for dodging and burning in PS is this (from Scott Kelby's The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers): create a new layer change the mode of that layer from normal to soft light (this is on the layers palette) adjust your opacity on the top deck (not on the layers palette) to soften or strengthen the effect use the brush tool and the color black to burn use the brush tool and the color white to dodge if you mess up, delete the layer and start again consider two seperate layers, one for dodging and one for burning This is the only dodge burn method I use and I love it. To see the change from the original, just turn the layer off and on. Lea
