If anyone is having Gimp Print problems with USB connections, you
should check the Source Forge.net website. There is a new Gimp print
USB back end that may fix your problems. It also allows ink level
checking for Epson printers and gives a 25% speed increase. I am
finding that for general printing, I am using Gimp Print over the Epson
drivers more and more.

Question for Roy:

As I understand QuadTone RIP, the Gimp Print/Cups function is now built
into your download package so that no separate installation of Gimp
Print is required. If I update to the latest Gimp Print version, 4.7.7
(the last before 5.0 comes out), and install the new USB back end will
I have problems or conflicts with Quadtone RIP?

Best regards,

David

So this will not fix the same problems when using the Epson driver? And
exactly how would one know if they are using the Epson driver or Gimp
in the background? I find that I get very slow printing times with OSX
but fast with OS9 no matter how connected, USB or network.

Head alignment on 9000

2004-08-25 by Mark Savoia

Here is one that is stumping me. I have two Epson 9000s. If I do a head
alignment pattern using the standard control panel procedure on one
printer it prints 12 "patterns" of seven rows. If I do the same on
other printer it only prints 6 "patterns" of seven rows. It is not a
clogged nozzle problem, I get good nozzle checks. Is there some hidden
feature I need to activate to get it to print 12 "patterns" of seven
rows?
