Printer repair for OSX

Printer repair for OSX

2004-10-14 by Roger Smith

James,

Thanks so much for this link! I sure have needed it as I have been
doing all my printing in 9.2 since installing OSX 10.3 a few months
ago. I could never get the printer utilities to open, never clean
nozzles or check alignment. I also can't figure out how to set the dpi
on the printer. Perhaps this software will fix my problem - I just got
sick of trying to figure it out (nothing should be this convoluted for
the consumer) and no one I talked to had any of the answers - sure
didn't expect to see one on this list. Hope this fix works would like
to print out of 10.3 and quite having to restart in 9.2. Sorry to all
you PC people for having to put up with all of this! Thanks again.

I am shocked! Why would you want to do anything in OS9? You shouldn't have
any problems printing in Panther. If you do, come back to the list. If you
describe the specific problems you are having I am sure we can fix them.
(Printer Setup Repair is a useful app but is not the be all and end all.)

Yes, the only thing I use 9 for is scanning, and that's only because I
don't have a choice, unless I want to buy Silverfast, which so far I
haven't wanted to. OS X prints for me without problem using the Epson
driver, Image Print or Colorburst. (Well, I'm having a weird thing with
black and white prints with Colorburst, but that's another story, not
OS related.) Usually I'm dragged kicking and screaming to any new OS,
but from Jaguar on to Panther I've been really happy. I think Apple
provides us with really cool products, actually, and much easier to use
in X than in 9 (although I'm well aware that there are certain areas
where this is not yet true.) And the difference between a single 733 G4
and a dual 1.8 G5, with music apps at least, not so noticeable with
still photography, is like the difference between dial-up and
broadband. So, no, I don't want to do anything in 9 anymore. Only when
I have to.
