If anyone is familiar with setting up a 7600 with Ethernet with CUPS/GIMP to use QuadTone Rip. I could use some help getting things running properly. I can get it to print properly using EpsonIP but not with GIMP. James Haney jhaney@... [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

First, follow the instructions in the Ethernet printserver manual (the online manual, not the paper getting-started manual) to assign your printer a fixed IP address. This step can be skipped, but then your printer may stop working if your network configuration changes. You'll need to know enough about your network to pick an IP address that won't cause conflicts. Download QuadToneRIP2.1d.dmg from www.harrington.com and mount the disk image, then double-click on QuadToneRIP2.1d.pkg and let it install, then go into Profiles/7600-UC and double click on the Install7600ipp script to actually install the printer. Notice, there are two 7600 scripts, and you must use the one ending in "ipp" (stands for Internet Printing Protocol). The script asks for the IP address of the printer. That's it. It just worked for me. If you're having difficulty with that procedure, you'll need to be more specific about what problems you're having. -Paul kb5mu@...

Thanks Paul, my problem was trying to get it to work with QTR 2.0. I did the 2.1 install and everything is working perfectly. The job seems to take longer to prepare in the spooler, but once the printer starts printing it flys! Thanks again. James Haney
