Need More Help reg QTR, 2100 and OSX

2004-12-18 by danny

After fumbling with the installing and trying to get it to work through a
firewire cabel, I've now got an USB cable and have manage to get one
slightly warm print on Epson Premium Semigloss paper.

However, my printer dialog boxes in Photoshop CS are not the same as shown
in the QTR documentation.

In my "print" box, after "Print with preview", I choose QUAD2100, on the
preset I'm suppose to set QTR, but on mine there as noQTR only standard.
Also I'm not able to select any curve to get warmer or cooler prints.

Do I have to use MIS ink to be able to get different tone, or is there
something I'm missing here....?

I'll appreciate any help here,
thanks,
danny

In Adobe PS's print pane (Print with Preview, Color Management) you should
have Same as Source in Print Space. Then hit Print. In the next pane that
comes up you need to select QUAD2100 as the printer (or whatever you called
it on installation). Under Presets you can select any saved presets - I
suspect you have not saved any QTR ones yet. Where it says Copies and Pages
select Quadtone RIP and you will be able to select the curves etc.

Thanks Steve,

But I don't really get it:-)

You are right about I've not saved any QTR..... how am I suppose to do that?
I can see the two box with curves in the Copies and Page panel, but they are
empty, I can't select any curves....

Any ideas here?

Thanks,
danny

Did you follow the instructions to load the curves? Installing QTR is a two
step process. First you set up the printer. Then you load the curves.
Only when both have been done will you see the printer in the print pane and
curves in the Quadtone RIP pane. I have not installed QTR for quite some
time and things have changed a little since I did but I believe part of the
download is a folder with a bunch of curves for various paper types/ink
types. You need to follow the instructions for installing the curves
relevant to the 2100 and I assume the UC inks.

Thanks again Steve.

I had to install the curves for the second time, then in the terminal window
I could see all the profiles loaded.
Right now I'm trying to print a sepia test.

BTW I can't see any QTR in the Preset, but I have yet saved any, what is it
to be saved i still don't understand:-)

thanks,
danny

As with any driver you can save a preset and call it what you want eg QTR
Sepia. So let's say you went through and selected the sepia curve, the
dither, 1440 super, matte paper etc, you can save these settings as a
"preset" so that you don't have to load them again each time.
