Replacing tubes on a CIS/CFS

Replacing tubes on a CIS/CFS

2004-12-28 by Andre

Happy New Year to all.

He had an original Nomocarts CIS system from 4 years ago, installed on
an Epson 1160 printer. The tubes needed replacing.

As Linda suggested on this list, I ordered tubes, cartridges and
switch activators (cfc-1160-e, mis-swtact) from MIS. I kept the
plastic arm and bottle caps from the old system. Total cost: $35.10
The conversion was rather easy and simple. I used the vacuum filled
method.

After installation I had one ink position whose nozzle check was not
perfect after repeated cleaning. A visual check showed that the tubing
for this ink did rise up before making a turn into the bottle and that
the tube end in the bottle was not cut at an angle, like I had the
other ends. After fixing this, nozzle checks are perfect again.
