QTR: quadtonerip2.1.d.dmg for windows?

QTR: quadtonerip2.1.d.dmg for windows?

2005-01-11 by Andrew Unger

I'm one of the many who are finally able to use these wonderful
programs. Finally getting neutral, non-metamarized prints on the
4000. However, like others, have run into the centering-margins
issue. This leads me to two questions. First, is there a
consistent and practical solution(s). Second, there was a reference
in one of the threads that I read to Roy's Read-me notes which I
believe is the above file. This is a Mac file of over 4MB. Is it
possible to have it translated to a Windows readable file and posted
on Roy's site, or here in the QTR related files?

I took another look at the problem and see that if you uncheck
centered and scale to fit and then adjust the percent amount in the
latter and the margins in the former and keep an eye on the print
placement window you can make a rough approximation in order to
center. Is this a reasonable approach? Is there something better?

QTR should be centering the image on the physical page if you check
"Centered". Is this not what is happening?

Andrew,

I found that the sure way to get it centered is to check "centered",
but UNcheck Scale to Fit. Then use the precent box to scale the
image to usually between 80-92% and you get a nice print. At least,
that is what I'm experiencing with 8.5x11 paper. Also, be sure that
your image is "resized" to the approximate size of paper or you may
find the percent scale skewed dramatically.

Good luck,

Tony

My image on letter size was was just over 10" (255mm)x7.25"
(185mm), landscape. With center checked and to fit unchecked and
image reduced to 96% the left margin was 13.5mm, the right was
9.5mm, top was 16.5mm and bottom was 13mm. Using my eyeballing
method proved different but no better. After considering this I
noticed that all sizes of paper share minimum margins of .125 on the
long side and .556 on the short side. This obviously must be taken
into consideration in determining the maximum size of the image.

What printer are you using? The "Pro" printers require this extra margin.

I use the 4000. I will take Tony's advice and scale down more.

My margins on 16 in. roll paper came out to a max 15.35 in. width,
and I need 15.6 in. to use pre-cut 16x20 in. mats!

Can someone tell me if/how to print as close to 16 in. width as
possible? I don't know what the prints margins are, and also using
the custom paper size set-up...?

Thanks in advance!

With 16² roll paper, in custom paper size, set the margins to .125 top,
left, and right, and .56 bottom- you¹ll be fine @15.75² width.

You should be able to go as wide as 15.75. The minimum margins are 0.125
inches.
