I just picked up 5 boxes of Swiss made Kirkland. A number stamped on the back of the box, above the UPC, is: 172026 Just wondering what other people might have. Scott

My rather early box of the new Swiss formula has # 169136 on the back. An earlier, "Made in Japan" box I received via mail order is # 002504. These are "dot matrix" type numbers. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

"These are "dot matrix" type numbers." Yes, correct. Thank you. On another note, while at Costco, I saw a shelf tag for Kirkland Scrapbook Paper 12x12. Do you know anything about that? I didn't see any, just the pricing tag on the shelf. I just printed the Costco paper on a 1280 with the Ilford Galerie neutral curve. As with the Ilford paper (and this Costco paper probably is made by the Swiss Ilford group), use media type "Photo Quality Glossy Film." The initial dmax came in at 2.4. That's about as good as it gets. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Pieris, I should have been more clear. The 2.4 initial dmax on the Costco paper was with Eboni installed and the curve that cuts out the Eboni and generates the black with the dark grays. By the way, all these huge dmax numbers come down as the print ages a few days. I don't think the current PK is needed for very much. In my 7500, with IJC I'm able to generate a better dmax with FSN-C than with PK on Premium Semimatte -- which raises some very interesting issues. As you might guess, I'm about to explore making a new and better PK. It seems I already have, but by accident. So, the question is whether I can do even better if I try -- maybe not. Thanks Paul. I haven't tried your workflow on the Kirkland paper, since I didn't have luck with the Ilford Pearl. I'll give it a go. I thought the Dmax fade could be stopped with spray? -Pieris --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Paul Roark" <paul.roark@v...> wrote: > Pieris, > > I should have been more clear. Well, that Kirkland paper is now my "standard" paper. Epson should be ashamed of themselves for selling a paper that cost 4 1/2 time Costco and isn't even as good. And for color? Blows away the Epson Professional papers. No annoying green cast. I have a re-newed respect for my R800! Awesome. I can use one paper for B&W and color! Pieris, >I thought the Dmax fade could be stopped with spray? Yes, PremierArt spray will kick the dmax back up. Losing gloss is a major part of the problem -- and also, I believe, why the PK is not doing better. What is happening is not fading as we usually use that term, it's gloss loss. Since many will not spray prints, I need to compromise the total carbon on the paper (ink load) with the realities of gloss loss on the papers that are most important to us. I think I can do this, and I doubt MIS's PK was designed from this perspective (by MIS's supplier & its chemist). (but would be VERY interested in a cooler K, even if it was of the same density) i have been very interested in trying EPSM though. would the same apply for EPSG? are you saying the we could replace the Photo K with FSN-C, or is it matter of manipulating the curves with a mix to achieve that level of Dmax? evan
