removing c86 pizza wheels

2005-01-21 by photorag

Hi everyone,

I remember seeing a post not too long ago that one of you was able to
remove the "pizza wheels" from your epson c86. How did you go about doing this? Did
you have to go through the inside of the printer?

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

I first removed the plastic pieces with the mounted pizza wheels completely, and then I
had to put them back in place again because I discovered that the C86 use the pizza
wheels to transport the last inch of a sheet.

So, I still have not solved the pizza wheel problem, but my idea is to place a pair of "MIS
Washers" to lift the pizza wheels a litttle, so that they still helps with transport but enough
so that they dont make the marks.

I will use this method: (intended for the Photo EX printer but may work with the C86)

Let me hear if you find a way to solve this problem...

Some guy was selling a set of plastic shims for $20 on ebay a while back.
Turns out it was the tapered ends of zip ties. Try those.

Shims like that are not intended to affect the "pizza wheels", are
they? At least for the 2200 printer the shims are recommended to raise
the rubber wheels located at the final stage of the paper transport,
if these are causing marks.
