I need to start fresh. I've misunderstood some basics. Where is concise (not jargon-hobbled and pseudoscientific) instruction on profiles, from most basic to most advanced (online hopefully)? Thanks! Djon

Hi I'm using UT7 in a 2100 with Paul Roark's curves. Today I thought I'd try the LC ink in the Y position and use the EEM curve provided for that configuration. However the printer wouldn't accept this ink in the Y position. The red light stayed on and I couldn't run a nozzle check as the no or low ink warning cane on. Reseating it had no effect. Should this work or do I need to still use a Y postion cartridge but with LC ink in it? Or is it possible to swap the contacts on the cartridges? Any help would be gratefully received Thanks Howard

Hello Howard, >I'm using UT7 in a 2100 with Paul Roark's curves. Today I thought I'd >try the LC ink in the Y position and use the EEM curve provided for >that configuration. I've always been able to fix it by removing/reinserting the cart. The driver can test the cart's chip to see if it's OEM (and pop up the "are you sure" warning), but I don't think it can check the ink itself (someone correct me if this is wrong). If it absolutely won't accept it it may be a defective chip - I had that once. Regards, Clayton Info on black and white digital printing at http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm

The ink slots on the chipped printers are color specific: therefore you must re- chip the LC cartridge with a yellow chip. The chips can be purchased from MIS for a couple bucks. You could probably pull the chip from your existing Y cartridge as well. However, keep in mind that the ink usage is recorded on the chip as well, and unless your LC and Y cartidges are equally full, the printer will provide erroneous feedback on how much ink is in the cartridge. Alternatively, you could buy an empty Y cartridge, and fill it with LC bulk ink. I am running LC in the Y position on my 2200, and the prints with no curves are quite neutral. -Guy --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Howard Shaw" < glassman@b...> wrote:
