Subject: [Digital BW] New UT-2 Magenta formulation?
Paul et al,
Paul, you've mentioned the change in the UT2 magenta ink and I have a
question that I don't recall being discussed before.
I suspect my 4-year-old 1280 with the original CIS may not have much life
left in it. I just changed the black cart and installed a new bottle of
Eboni to try solving a problem, and I don't want to invest in changing the
color cart at this point as long as the printer continues to work
satisfactorily. I bought new bottles of UT2-4-Y, 4-M, and 4-LM last week and
assume I've got the new magenta formulation. I've still got the older
magenta in the CIS and those bottles are about 1/4 to 1/3 full.
As long as this printer prints, I'll continue to use it and the UT2 inks. I
don't plan to change the color cart any time soon, if ever. If this printer
lasts for a while longer and I'm required to add ink from the new bottles,
is it OK to mix the new magenta formula with the old magenta? Has anyone
mixed them and printed without problems?
Thanks...
Tom Keesling
